The Fanelli Family

Cammi Fanelli grows up on Long Island, NY and meets her future husband, Michael in High School. On a lark she fools around with a Ouija board and becomes terrified by this encounter. She does her best to squelch her strong psychic abilities because of this frightening experience. After a small windfall of money she is supportive of Michael’s desire to relocate to the Adirondacks. So, she uproots her family and heads north with her two children in tow. She is a strong woman with fine tuned maternal instincts that is equipped to handle even the most tragic situations.

Michael Fanelli is an easygoing guy, caught up in the adventure of relocating and starting a new life. Seeking a better position, Michael decides to gamble that his new job is the answer to some money problems his family is having. Driving past a seemingly abandoned property in the Adirondack’s one day Michael becomes enamored of a house and decides that it is the perfect place for his family.

Jenna is the oldest child of Cammi and Michael Fanelli. After moving to the mountains she begs her mother and father to buy her a horse. She keeps her new pony housed in Mrs. Titus’s barn and takes loving care of her horse called Lightning.

Renee is the youngest of the Fanelli girls. She is very close to her family and idolizes her older sister. But, Renee has inherited many qualities from her mother. Notably, she is psychic, and because of her pure innocent spirit her mind is open to all forms of psychic phenomena.

The Treadwell Family

Benjamin Treadwell is a man who learns early on from his mother to persevere and work hard. He gains recognition for his unique style of building and proceeds to build an empire in that trade. The house on Old Mill Road is constructed in late 1897. Contented, he sits back enjoying the wealth he has amassed. In the local neighborhood he is widely recognized as a gentleman of unquestionable character. He is especially enamored of his only son, Benny. Benjamin envisions that one day Benny will follow in his footsteps and take over the business and their elaborate home. But there are forces that lay in wait to undermine the strength of his character.

Elizabeth Treadwell is a supportive wife who assists her husband along the path to power and wealth. She decides right after her two children are born that she will work outside of the home. After her momentous decision, which was almost unheard of at that time, she proceeds to operate the mill office with an iron fist.

Benny Treadwell is born in the house on Old Mill Road. He an optimist with a light hearted demeanor until tragedy strikes a heavy blow. He spends most of his lifetime recovering from that trauma. During the years spent living in his house he is oblivious of the enormous powers that lie in wait to pounce upon an unsuspecting soul. Eventually he is forced to recognize what lies in wait in the house he calls "home".

Catherine Treadwell is the youngest child from Benjamin and Elizabeth. She grows up protecting her brother in a motherly fashion. As time progresses she attempts to alert him to the overpowering forces that she recognizes before her brother accepts they are real.

Geraldine Will is a woman obsessed with her only son, Floyd. She is invited by her sister, Elizabeth Treadwell, to live in the house on Old Mill Road. After moving into the Treadwell residence to take care of Benny and Catherine, she is unnerved and made jealous by the relationship her son shares with Benny. Although she goes through the motions of caring for the family she is possessed by evil ulterior motives.

Floyd M. Will is a delicate, sweet child who idolizes his cousin, Benny. He goes to great lengths to prove that he can keep up with his cousin just so he can spend time with him. As soon as he moves into the Treadwell home he becomes the proud caretaker of Benny’s tree fort. Keeping close company with his cousin causes his mother Geraldine, to become green with envy. And, protecting Benny is not acceptable behavior.
